At first I was excited. Wow, a personal call from a candidate! Oh, Poop—not a personal call at all, the chipper voice was a recording: Press 1 if you would like to donate; press 2 if you would like to volunteer; press 3 if you would like to donate and volunteer.
I waited for “Press 4 if you would like to leave a message.” No joy, I’m afraid. Stupidly, I hung up without pressing a button so I don’t know what would have happened. Has anyone out there actually pressed one of Weiss’s buttons?

Was that it for the robo call? Just asking for money and volunteering? We've received robocalls to get out and vote, call our Congressman on an issue, and to take a survey--never, though, to volunteer or give money. This does not sound like a good campaign move on her part since so many people hate robocalls. Also, it leads me to suspect that they are short on volunteers [not just cause they asked you to volunteer] because wouldn't you usually want to receive a request to volunteer from a human and not a robot?

Yes, that was it. I would think that personal calls to possible major donors would be a better strategy at the start of a campaign, but maybe she's doing that, too.
Well, I imagine it is her manager making those decisions, and I totally agree that it is the wrong approach. I haven't decided on who to support but robo calls really turn me off.
I used to work in call centers and there is a good way and a bad way to do it. At the beginning of a campaign those calls MUST be personal calls. If they are going to do the robo call, it should at least have a little blurb about the candidate and ask for volunteering only...never money on a first call.
I heard she has about 100 volunteers which isn't too bad considering she just recently entered the race. I think Patty will have a tough time against Giffords in getting the nomination...especially since she hasn't been campaigning in Tucson where most of the voters are located and Giffords has 40,000+ LD28 voters who already know her. Unfortunately, I think Giffords will have a much harder time in the general.
Roger,
I think your analysis is probably correct on gaining the momentum. I will vote for any of them in the general.
What do you mean by Weiss "lowering expectations"? I didn't understand what that meant.
